The score measures how completely this machine is specified in its maker’s own documentation, and how much it is specified to do. It is not a measure of build quality, reliability or support: Laser Oracle has not run this machine and does not claim to. Every figure it reads is cited on this page with the date it was read.
Why the bench decides the Glowforge Aura
The pass-through is what the 12" bed hides. A 12" square cutting area reads as a hobby machine until you notice Glowforge states material can be any length, which puts a 4-foot sign or a run of shelf edging inside the envelope of a device that weighs 19 lb and draws 84 W. That combination of an ordinary outlet, a desk, and stock longer than the desk is not available anywhere else at this price.
Every Glowforge Aura figure, sourced and dated
Laser Oracle records the Glowforge Aura as a 6W diode machine operating at 450 nm with a 12" × 12" maximum cutting area, read from Glowforge’s own Craft Series tech-specs page on 16 August 2026. Glowforge states a maximum material size of 12" × 12", or 12" by any length through the pass-through slot, which takes material up to 3⁄8" (9.5 mm) tall and 12" (30.48 cm) wide. Maximum material height is ¾" without the tray or ¼" with it, and maximum material depth is ¼". The machine measures 22" wide by 20½" deep by 5" high, weighs 19 lb, and Glowforge states 110/220 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz with 84 W peak power consumption. It is certified as a Class 1 laser product containing an embedded Class 4 laser. Glowforge publishes no extraction duct diameter for the Aura, stating instead that it needs either the Glowforge Personal Filter or an open-able window within 8 feet; the 4" duct figure Glowforge does publish belongs to the Performance Series, not to this machine.

What drives it, and what that costs
"LightBurn compatible" on a listing can mean a bundled licence, a licence you buy separately, or a bridge the maker wrote. Here is what Glowforge publishes for the Glowforge Aura.

Who this is wrong for
Cutting anything thick, and anything clear. Glowforge states a maximum material depth of ¼", so this scores and cuts thin stock rather than building in it. The 450 nm blue diode also cannot see clear or translucent acrylic, and Glowforge says so plainly for the Spark on the same page.
