Verdict

The xTool S1 40W is an enclosed 40W diode cutter with a 498 mm × 319 mm bed and a published top speed of 600 mm/s, and with the optional conveyor rail it feeds stock up to 3000 mm long.

The score measures how completely this machine is specified in its maker’s own documentation, and how much it is specified to do. It is not a measure of build quality, reliability or support: Laser Oracle has not run this machine and does not claim to. Every figure it reads is cited on this page with the date it was read.

Why the bench decides the xTool S1 40W

The conveyor rail is the specification that separates this from the rest of the diode tier. Every other enclosed machine at this price stops at its bed length, so a sign, a run of slats or a long panel has to be cut in registered sections and joined. A published 3000 mm feed length turns that into a single job, which matters more to someone selling work than another millimetre of cutting depth would.

Every xTool S1 40W figure, sourced and dated

Laser Oracle records the xTool S1 40W as a 40W diode machine with a 19.61" × 12.56" (498 mm × 319 mm) working area, read from xTool’s own product page on 16 August 2026. xTool states a maximum speed of 600 mm/s and a laser spot of 0.08 mm × 0.10 mm, and lists a working area of 470 mm × 3000 mm when the automatic conveyor feeder is fitted, which needs an additional transmission rail. The machine measures 765 mm × 561 mm × 183 mm without its riser base and 765 mm × 561 mm × 268 mm with it, and weighs 20 kg. It runs from XCS or LightBurn over USB or Wi-Fi. xTool publishes no maximum material height, no pass-through and no extraction duct diameter for the S1, and the SafetyPro IF2 guide that states duct sizes for seven other xTool machines does not list it. The specification table gives an output of 25V 11A, which is the supply to the laser module rather than the machine’s input, so no mains draw is recorded here. xTool does not state whether the 40W figure is optical output or electrical draw. One figure to check before buying: the Amazon listing title advertises a 23.93″ × 15.16″ bed size, while xTool’s own specification table states a working area of 19.61″ × 12.56″. Both are published claims and they measure different things, but the number a buyer plans a project around is the smaller one.

Who this is wrong for

Anyone who needs a stated cutting depth before buying. xTool publishes speed, spot size and bed size for the S1 but no single-pass depth by material on this page, so the figures that decide whether it cuts your stock are not on the record. It is also a diode, so raw stainless is out at any wattage.
