Laser Oracle records CerMark Ultra as a marking medium for bare surfaces, read from CerMark’s own product page on 16 August 2026. CerMark states it makes marks on all metal types as well as glass, ceramic, stone, slate and brick, and that it will work on anodised aluminium but may not work correctly on painted or coated surfaces. It is not intended for plastics or wood. CerMark also states that Ultra marks at up to 80% faster speed than its LMM 6000 coating on stainless steel, on some laser systems. What CerMark does not publish for Ultra is a minimum machine: it states that LMM 6000 needs a CO2 laser of 35 watts or stronger, or a fiber laser that can be set to 200 kHz or higher, and gives no equivalent figure for Ultra on a can that costs more. Nothing on the Amazon listing states the bare-surface limitation, which is the sentence that decides whether the can will work on the item in front of you.

Why that figure decides it

The bare-surface limitation is the whole purchase and it is the one thing the listing omits. A powder-coated tumbler and a bare stainless one look like the same job to somebody who has not done it, and CerMark is telling you plainly that they are not. Reading that sentence before buying is the difference between a can that works and $90 of aerosol that does nothing.

Wrong for

Anyone marking painted, powder-coated or plastic items, and anyone who needs to know their machine is strong enough before spending $90. CerMark publishes a minimum wattage for its LMM 6000 coating and none for this one.
