A marking spray bonds a coating to the surface rather than cutting into it. Useful on parts you are decorating, and it is not what the depth requirement above is asking for.

Optics and safety
Eyewear has to match the wavelength the machine emits. A fiber source at 1064nm needs its own, and a pair rated for a CO2 tube gives no protection against it.
