Catalogue read

A fiber source does not mark fabric at all, so the whole metal-marking tier is out before you start. What a CO2 tube does that no other source here does is cut synthetic fabric and melt the edge closed in the same pass, which is why it is the machine behind applique and patch work. Only three machines in this catalogue name fabric, so treat the shortlist as what makers have stated rather than as a survey of what works.

23 machines are in stock on Amazon today, from $338.96. Prices refresh every three hours.

Every figure behind this guide, sourced and datedThe full finding: counts, ordering, and the spec nobody prints

Laser Oracle tracks 23 laser machines in stock on Amazon today, with prices from the Amazon Product Advertising API refreshed every three hours, starting at $338.96. The list is ordered by Amazon's own category placement rather than by our preference; the best-placed machine currently sits at #8 in Engraving Machines & Tools. 21 of them carry a full sourced review here, with the workspace requirement, license cost and software compatibility read from each manufacturer's own pages. The gap a buyer should know about: of the reviewed machines in this bracket, 1 of 21 publish an optical output figure, as distinct from the wattage on the box. Laser Oracle does not test machines: every figure on this page is a live listing value or a quotation from a manufacturer document, dated when it was read.

What marks fabric, and what does not

The source decides this, not the wattage. Quoted from each maker’s own documentation, with the date it was read.

Fabric and textiles No Marks it Conditional ConditionalA CO2 tube cuts synthetic fabric and seals the edge as it goes, which is why it is the source used for applique and patch work. Only three machines in this catalogue name fabric at all and none publishes a cut depth.
ABS, delrin and polycarbonate Conditional Marks it Conditional Marks itTen machines across seven brands name plastic and not one publishes a cut depth for it, which is unusual given how freely they publish depths for wood and acrylic. Plastics also differ more from each other than any other row here: polycarbonate discolours where acrylic cuts clean.
PVC and vinyl No No No NoNever. Anything containing chlorine releases chlorine gas, which damages the machine and the person operating it. This row is the same on every source type and it is the only one in the table that is a safety instruction rather than a capability.

What each maker publishes about fabric

No maker publishes a figure for fabric as such, because it is a use rather than a material. 1 of the 23 machines in stock below publish a claim for fabric or textiles, which is what one is made of. This is what each states, quoted, with the date it was read.

What else fabric needs

Not extras. These are the parts of the job the machine does not come with, and the lines people leave out when they compare two prices.

Beds and tooling

Fabric lifts, curls and moves under the air assist. A honeycomb bed with the sheet weighted flat is the difference between a cut line and a wandering one.

Fume extraction

Synthetic fabric melts rather than burns and the smoke it gives off is denser than wood smoke. It has to leave the room rather than be spread around it, and no machine here ships with anything that does that.

Optics and safety

Eyewear has to match the wavelength the machine emits, and the two are not interchangeable. A CO2 tube emits at 10,600nm and a diode at 450nm.

How this list was builtThe screen, the ordering, and what we do not do

The screen is mechanical: every machine we track on Amazon that is in stock, carries a live price, and is not a duplicate listing. The order is Amazon’s own category placement, read from the Product Advertising API and refreshed every three hours. Laser Oracle does not test machines and has no preference to encode; where a unit has a full review here, the review quotes the manufacturer’s own documents with the date each was read. Guide copy last reviewed 2026-08-20.

What is the best laser engraver for fabric?
A CO2 tube, and the reason is the edge rather than the cut. On synthetic fabric the beam melts the fibres closed as it passes, so the piece comes off the bed already sealed and does not fray. That is why applique, patches and appliqued signage are CO2 work. A diode cuts thin natural fabric slowly and chars the edge more. A fiber source does not mark fabric at all.
Will a laser cutter fray or scorch fabric?
Synthetics seal, naturals scorch, and that is the whole distinction. Polyester, nylon and most performance fabrics melt at the cut line and hold. Cotton, linen and other cellulose fabrics burn instead, so the edge browns and still frays. Neither behaviour is a machine fault and no setting removes it.
Do I need a honeycomb bed for fabric?
More than for anything else on this site. Fabric lifts, curls and moves under the air assist, and a cut line that wanders is scrap. A honeycomb bed with the piece weighted flat is the difference between a usable cut and a ruined panel, and it also lets the smoke out of the back of the cut instead of staining the underside.
How is this list ordered, and have you tested these?
By Amazon’s own category placement, refreshed through the day, and no, we have not run these machines and do not claim to. What Laser Oracle adds is the layer the listings leave out: the source type, the published working area, whether a wattage claim is optical or electrical, and what the maker does not state at all. Every price here came from Amazon within the last three hours.
