Catalogue read

Every source type here marks stone and none of them cuts it, which makes this a contrast problem rather than a power one. The mark is a shallow fracture of the surface that reads lighter than the stone around it, so dark slate gives the strongest result and pale granite the weakest. Choose the stone before the machine.

Every figure behind this guide, sourced and datedThe full finding: counts, ordering, and the spec nobody prints

Laser Oracle tracks 31 laser machines in stock on Amazon today, with prices from the Amazon Product Advertising API refreshed every three hours, starting at $338.96. The list is ordered by Amazon's own category placement rather than by our preference; the best-placed machine currently sits at #8 in Engraving Machines & Tools. 28 of them carry a full sourced review here, with the workspace requirement, license cost and software compatibility read from each manufacturer's own pages. The gap a buyer should know about: of the reviewed machines in this bracket, 1 of 28 publish an optical output figure, as distinct from the wattage on the box. Laser Oracle does not test machines: every figure on this page is a live listing value or a quotation from a manufacturer document, dated when it was read.

What marks stone, and what does not

The source decides this, not the wattage. Quoted from each maker’s own documentation, with the date it was read.

Which laser source marks stone, by wavelength, with the condition on each
MaterialFiber1064nmCO210.6µmDiode450nmUV355nmWhat decides it
Stone, slate and marble Conditional Marks it Marks it Marks itStone marks by fracturing a shallow surface layer to a lighter colour, which is why dark slate gives the strongest contrast and pale granite the weakest. Every source type here has a maker naming it, and not one publishes a cut depth, because none of them cuts stone at all.
Glass and crystal No Conditional Conditional Marks itNothing on this site cuts glass. Glowforge states "engraves only" in its own specification and no maker in this catalogue publishes a cut depth for it. A CO2 tube frosts the surface; a diode marks coated glass and not bare; UV is the only source whose makers claim engraving inside the glass rather than on it.
PVC and vinyl No No No NoNever. Anything containing chlorine releases chlorine gas, which damages the machine and the person operating it. This row is the same on every source type and it is the only one in the table that is a safety instruction rather than a capability.

What each maker publishes about stone

No maker publishes a figure for stone as such, because it is a use rather than a material. 7 of the 31 machines in stock below publish a claim for stone, slate, marble or rock, which is what one is made of. This is what each states, quoted, with the date it was read.

What else stone needs

Not extras. These are the parts of the job the machine does not come with, and the lines people leave out when they compare two prices.

Marking sprays

Marking spray is what lets a CO2 tube leave a permanent mark on a material it would otherwise only frost. It is a consumable rather than an accessory, so it is a cost on every piece rather than once.

Fume extraction

The smoke has to leave the room rather than be spread around it, and no machine on this page ships with anything that does that. It is the line people leave out when they compare two prices.

Optics and safety

Eyewear has to match the wavelength the machine emits, and the two are not interchangeable. A fiber source at 1064nm, a CO2 tube at 10,600nm and a diode at 450nm each need their own, and a pair rated for one gives no protection against another.

How this list was builtThe screen, the ordering, and what we do not do

The screen is mechanical: every machine we track on Amazon that is in stock, carries a live price, and is not a duplicate listing. The order is Amazon’s own category placement, read from the Product Advertising API and refreshed every three hours. Laser Oracle does not test machines and has no preference to encode; where a unit has a full review here, the review quotes the manufacturer’s own documents with the date each was read. Guide copy last reviewed 2026-08-20.

What is the best laser engraver for stone?
Almost any of them, which is unusual on this site and is why the machine is the wrong thing to agonise over. Every source type here has a maker stating it marks stone, and none of them cuts it. The mark is a shallow fracture of the surface that reads lighter than the stone around it, so the variable that decides whether the result looks good is the stone: dark slate gives the strongest contrast and pale granite the weakest. Choose the stone first, then buy the cheapest machine that marks it.
Can a laser cut stone?
No machine in this catalogue does, and no maker here publishes a cut depth for stone. They publish marking claims. Cutting stone is done with water jet and diamond tooling, which is a different category of machine at a different price. Anyone selling you a desktop laser as a stone cutter is describing something it cannot do.
Does slate need any preparation before engraving?
No coating, and usually a wipe. Slate marks well bare because the fractured surface is much lighter than the stone, which is why it is the material most often used for the sample photographs in these listings. What does change the result is surface dust and the natural unevenness of a riven slate face, since the focal distance shifts across the piece.
How is this list ordered, and have you tested these?
By Amazon’s own category placement, refreshed through the day, and no, we have not run these machines and do not claim to. What Laser Oracle adds is the layer the listings leave out: the source type, the published working area, whether a wattage claim is optical or electrical, and what the maker does not state at all. Every price here came from Amazon within the last three hours.
